Atmospheric “Shaped” Launches for iOS and Android

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20, 2012 – Indie game studio Send More People announced today that the atmospheric mobile game Shaped has released for the iOS AppStore and Google Play.

Shaped was originally entered in the Ludum Dare 22 Game Jam competition in December 2011. Shaped ranked 5th out of more than 800 entries for sound design and mood. Since that time, Send More People co-founders Eric Daily and Derek Gildea have redesigned the game and optimized it for release on smart phone and tablet devices.

“We really wanted to focus on the sound design for Shaped,” said Derek. “We spent a lot of time working to ensure that the music, sound effects, and ambient touches worked together to establish a mood for the player.”

“Shaped was designed to a ‘simple to learn, difficult to master’ experience,” said Eric. “People who pick up the game need only a few seconds to discover how to play, but even experienced players get a challenge out of it. Watch out for the triangles,” he added with a grin. “If you’re cursing at geometric shapes, you’re probably playing the game right.”

Shaped is the first commerical product of Send More People. When they first met, both Derek and Eric were graduate students at the George Washington University, earning degrees in Middle East studies and Security studies, respectively. Now graduated, Derek and Eric are working together from the east and west coasts of the United States.

10% of all profits for Shaped will go to the Make A Wish foundation.
